| Last weekend I finally got my wardrobe put together (Jake assembled it). Now maybe I will have enough room to hang my clothes. My room is cleaner now too, though it could still use some work. Today I have an eye exam to determine whether I need new glasses. | | |
| I got back from the College Age Ski Trip on Sunday. It was a good trip. I didn't ski (or snowboard). Instead I went to help, hang out, and use the trip as a personal retreat. I started two good books. The Confessions of Saint Augustine and The Freedom of Simplicity (by Richard Foster). Both books have an "old" feel to them. It is refreshing to see Christianity from a perspective untainted by the sins particular to modern Christian culture. The ski trip was a great chance to recenter on Christ. | | |
| Today I had two of my tires replaced. I suspected something might be wrong when my car started making a scraping sound. Sure enough, my back right tire was flat! I replaced my other back tire too because it had a lot of wear. It was my fault, though. Apparently, you are supposed to check your tire pressure from time to time and keep your tires properly inflated. Oops - sorry Blackie! I'll do better in the future. Also, I was extremely hyper today (unusual for me, I know). I think I was hyperer than I have ever been before. If you don't believe me, just ask Audra. Editor's Note: the word "hyperer" is commonly used in place of the phrase "more hyper" by people who are too hyper for their own good. | | |
| Black Lightning and I were in a minor car accident recently (Black Lightning is the name of my car). As I was driving through McDonald's parking lot, a car backed into Old Black. The accident was clearly the fault of the other driver because he hit the back third of my car (along the right side). Editor's Note: Sheri's post caused me to realize my previous sentence could be misunderstood. The other vehicle hit the side of my car. That is why the accident was clearly the other driver's fault. He hit the back third of my car, along the right side. We pulled over to inspect the damage, and three punk hispanic kids stepped out of the other vehicle. I call them "kids" because they looked like they were in high school. I say "hispanic" because of their thick accents. I refer to them as "punk" because they tried so hard to be cool and tough. I inspected my car and found some minor damage. The driver of the other vehicle immediately denied causing it. I didn't want to be mean to the punk hispanic kids, so I suppressed my laughter as I checked my window and door to make sure they were working properly. The damage was only cosmetic, so I told them not to worry about it. I am sure having his insurance rate skyrocket would be more of a hardship for him than my car's minor damage is to me and Blackie. A week or two before the accident my car's window stopped working. I hope this isn't the beginning of a new string of car problems. | | |
| I am finally caught up at work! Now I can focus on cleaning and organizing my room. Les Jordan is my company's other estimator. For nearly 3 weeks he has been recovering from eye surgery. Yesterday was his first day back at work. He had a gas bubble injected into his eye to help it heal. Eventually the bubble will dissipate, but he can still see it. He says it is like looking through a level. I have been playing a lot of Settlers of Catan recently. Last night I was up past 2am finishing a game. I thought it would be done by midnight - obviously I was wrong - so I am a little tired today. | | |
